Getting our IBEW Lu 136 name out to the general public and just as importantly, getting our BUG (IBEW symbol) recognized as the professional electricians we are and the quality we stand for is a step towards gaining the trust of our Customers, General Contractors, Public Officials, communities and neighborhood.
Here are a few examples of our presence in the community:
The E Board moved and the Body approved for Local 136 to buy radio spot ads on several radio shows owned by Cox Radio. One of these will be the "Rick and Bubba" show, with Ricks Brother, Greg Burgess, a 20+ year member of the IBEW.The show will run spots and have personal endorcements from Greg. This is a very popular show that reaches thousands of listeners during the work commuting hours.
Sponsering BASS pro Heath Smith in the Southern B.A.S.S. circuit gives our Local unlimited exposure as Heath participates in Tournaments accross the South. Heath is a Union Firefighter from the Gadsden area.
The E Board and the Local Union has decided to continue our sponsership with Heath next year, 2012, on the Southern B.A.S.S. tournament circuit. Heath spoke at the last Union Meeting about his exposure to IBEW members all accross the south. He told of members that followed him to gas stations where they would ask him about the boat and have their pictures taken beside it. More importantly, everybody offered their help and assistance to Heath as he traveled around the Country. Heath commented how impressed he was to find out how vast our Brotherhood stretched, something we already knew, but was good to hear others realizing it too.
This year, we will be wrapping both the Boat and Truck, which will double the exposure we get, even when Heath is not pulling the boat.

This is a photo of Heath Smiths Truck and Boat with the new IBEW Local 136 wrap. The Local has gotten some great exposure and feedback from Heath's travels across the Southeastern BASS fishing circuit.
We are also showing our "Bug" at UAB football and basketball games. We are doing sponerships at these games on the scrolling marques and giant screens along with radio spot advertising. This has already resulted in getting us contacts with the right people in charge of construction and maintenance at UAB.
On Sat., Jan. 30, 8,533 fans showed up for the UAB basketball game vs. UTEP. This means that 8,533 people had the opportunity to see our scrolling marque and scorers table advertisements. Below are a few pictures from that night.
